KPV Overview

The three-amino-acid tail of alpha-MSH, studied for anti-inflammatory activity.

Technical overview

KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) is the C-terminal end of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, positions 11 to 13. It keeps much of the hormone's anti-inflammatory activity but none of its effect on pigmentation, and research suggests it enters cells through the PepT1 transporter.

Research applications

KPV is studied in models of inflammatory bowel disease, skin inflammation and wound healing, including its effects on NF-κB signalling and inflammatory cytokines.

FAQs

  • What is KPV?

KPV is the tripeptide Lys-Pro-Val, the C-terminal end of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH).

  • What is KPV studied for?

KPV is studied for anti-inflammatory activity, including models of inflammatory bowel disease and skin inflammation. Unlike full alpha-MSH, it does not affect pigmentation.

  • How is KPV tested?

Every batch goes to an independent lab. The current batch was tested across three vials for purity (RP-HPLC), identity (LC-MS), net peptide content, endotoxins, heavy metals and sterility. Each batch's certificate of analysis is published on the lab results page.

  • How should KPV be stored?

Keep the sealed vial in the refrigerator at 36–46°F (2–8°C), dry and away from light. As a freeze-dried powder it tolerates room temperature for weeks, which is why it ships without ice. Once reconstituted, keep it refrigerated between uses. More in our guide, Do peptides need to be refrigerated?

  • How much KPV is in a vial?

KPV comes as a white lyophilized powder in a 10mg vial.

  • Is KPV for human use?

No. KPV is sold for laboratory research use only.
