TB-500 Overview

The actin-binding core of thymosin beta-4, made as a short synthetic peptide for tissue-repair research.

Technical overview

TB-500 is the seven-amino-acid sequence Leu-Lys-Lys-Thr-Glu-Thr-Gln, acetylated at its N-terminus, copied from positions 17 to 23 of thymosin beta-4. That stretch holds LKKTET, the motif thymosin beta-4 uses to bind G-actin, the building block of the cell's actin skeleton.

Research applications

Research uses TB-500 to study cell migration, wound closure, blood-vessel growth, and repair of muscle, tendon and skin in animal and cell models, and to separate what the actin-binding region does from the rest of thymosin beta-4.

FAQs

  • What is TB-500?

TB-500 is a synthetic seven-amino-acid peptide, Ac-Leu-Lys-Lys-Thr-Glu-Thr-Gln, copied from the actin-binding region of thymosin beta-4, a protein found in nearly every human cell.

  • Is TB-500 the same as thymosin beta-4?

No. Thymosin beta-4 is the full 43-amino-acid protein. TB-500 is a synthetic copy of positions 17 to 23, the part that binds actin, which is why the two are studied and discussed together.

  • What is TB-500 studied for?

TB-500 is studied in tissue-repair research, including cell migration, wound closure, blood-vessel growth and muscle and tendon repair in animal and cell models.

  • Is there a BPC-157 and TB-500 blend?

Yes. The Wolverine peptide combines 10mg of BPC-157 and 10mg of TB-500 in one vial.

  • How should TB-500 be stored?

Keep the sealed vial in the refrigerator at 36–46°F (2–8°C), dry and away from light. As a freeze-dried powder it tolerates room temperature for weeks, which is why it ships without ice. Once reconstituted, keep it refrigerated between uses. More in our guide, Do peptides need to be refrigerated?

  • How much TB-500 is in a vial?

TB-500 comes as a white lyophilized powder in a 10mg vial.

  • Is TB-500 for human use?

No. TB-500 is sold for laboratory research use only.
