GHK-Cu Overview

The copper peptide: a natural tripeptide bound to copper, studied in skin and tissue-repair research.

Technical overview

GHK (Gly-His-Lys) was first identified in human plasma by Loren Pickart in 1973. It binds copper tightly, and the copper complex, GHK-Cu, is the form used in most research. Plasma levels fall with age, from about 200 ng/mL at 20 to about 80 ng/mL at 60.

Research applications

GHK-Cu is studied for collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycan production, wound closure, skin and hair-follicle models, and gene-expression studies that link it to tissue remodelling and antioxidant pathways.

FAQs

  • What is GHK-Cu?

GHK-Cu is the copper complex of the tripeptide glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine (GHK). GHK occurs naturally in human plasma, saliva and urine, and its levels fall with age.

  • What is GHK-Cu studied for?

GHK-Cu is studied in skin and wound-healing research, including collagen and elastin production, wound closure and tissue remodelling, and in studies of how it changes gene expression.

  • Why is GHK-Cu blue?

The copper ion gives both the powder and the reconstituted solution their blue color.

  • How is GHK-Cu tested?

Every batch goes to an independent lab. The current batch was tested across three vials for purity (RP-HPLC), identity (LC-MS), net peptide content, endotoxins, heavy metals and sterility. Each batch's certificate of analysis is published on the lab results page.

  • How should GHK-Cu be stored?

Keep the sealed vial in the refrigerator at 36–46°F (2–8°C), dry and away from light. As a freeze-dried powder it tolerates room temperature for weeks, which is why it ships without ice. Once reconstituted, keep it refrigerated between uses. More in our guide, Do peptides need to be refrigerated?

  • What sizes does GHK-Cu come in?

GHK-Cu comes as a blue lyophilized powder in 50mg and 100mg vials.

  • Is GHK-Cu for human use?

No. GHK-Cu is sold for laboratory research use only.
