DSIP Overview

A nine-amino-acid neuropeptide first isolated from rabbits in induced sleep, and a fixture of sleep research ever since.

Technical overview

DSIP (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu) was isolated in 1977 by Schoenenberger and Monnier. It has since been found in the brain, pituitary and blood of several species. No dedicated receptor has been identified, and it is thought to act through several signalling systems rather than one.

Research applications

DSIP is studied in research on sleep, especially delta (slow-wave) sleep, as well as stress-hormone regulation, circadian rhythm and body-temperature control.

FAQs

  • What is DSIP?

DSIP (delta sleep-inducing peptide) is a nine-amino-acid neuropeptide, Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu, first isolated in 1977 from the blood of rabbits in induced sleep.

  • What is DSIP studied for?

DSIP is studied in research on sleep, especially delta (slow-wave) sleep, and on stress-hormone regulation. Its receptor and exact mechanism are still not established.

  • How is DSIP tested?

Every batch goes to an independent lab. The current batch was tested across three vials for purity (RP-HPLC), identity (LC-MS), net peptide content, endotoxins, heavy metals and sterility. Each batch's certificate of analysis is published on the lab results page.

  • How should DSIP be stored?

Keep the sealed vial in the refrigerator at 36–46°F (2–8°C), dry and away from light. As a freeze-dried powder it tolerates room temperature for weeks, which is why it ships without ice. Once reconstituted, keep it refrigerated between uses. More in our guide, Do peptides need to be refrigerated?

  • How much DSIP is in a vial?

DSIP comes as a white lyophilized powder in a 10mg vial.

  • Is DSIP for human use?

No. DSIP is sold for laboratory research use only.
